A Happy Christmas to All...

Merry Christmas!

My house is decorated, the tree is lit, and the smell of homemade cookies and fudge is filling the air....
It is Christmas!

My sisters and I had a little party and we made this video for you to watch! We had so much fun! I hope you like it too.

Have a splendid Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Love,

The surprise...

 Here it is my lovelies.
My early birthday present from my Mama, sisters and myself. Isn't she a beauty? I was so lucky to find her!
She is a cast iron "EAGLE" salesman sample of a wood cookstove from the early 1900's (I think). She also came with so many cast iron pots, pans, skillets and even a couple cauldrons!
What a joy she is! I cannot wait to fill up my new kitchen with every thing a kitchen needs! (And it is a VERY long list of things I don't have yet... But, so much the better!)

I meant to show you much sooner (honest, I did.) But I got sick and was in bed for two days unable to do anything productive.
But I'm feeling so much better today and I would like to invite you to see my new house
The same location, but now I have 2 floors and 2 rooms!
Here is the kitchen. As you can see I am still unpacking, putting candles in all the holders and washing the dust off the silver.
Here is another treasure I found. It is a handmade, antique rocking chair. A tiny bit lopsided and obviously been "fixed" in places, but lovable all the same.
And my bedroom, also still in the unpacking stage.
I hope to have it all finished and decorated for Christmas very soon!
In the meantime.... Do sign up for the giveaway at Rookery Ramblings.
They're giving away a delightful Turkey Red table cloth from the 1800's.
Here is the link:

Please tell me what you've been doing this Christmas season! I'm simply aching to know! Whatever you are doing, I hope you are having a very Merry Christmas!
Love always,
Emaline

A parcel! A parcel!

Merry Christmas everyone!
(I'm going to say it as many times as I possibly can.)
There are things happening over here... Very exciting things indeed!
A few days ago, there arrived some very interesting boxes on my front porch.
Which my sister promptly brought inside for closer inspection.
The top one containing fabric for some Christmas presents, the white box containing Take Joy! and Take Peace-- Two dvds about Tasha Tudor that I gave to Marmee for her birthday.

The other larger two boxes were indeed the items we ordered as "early birthday presents" for myself. Things I saw and instantaneously fell in love with.
They are in a little need of... arranging. So I am not at present ready to unveil them.
I can only say that it is something I have been needing in preparation for the holidays and the cold weather. Something meant for coziness and comfort but also necessity. Quite toasty, but not soft.
Can you guess what it is?

It's Christmastime again!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving. We had a very nice holiday with lots of family and food and gaiety and not much time for blogging. But we did all have a lovely time.

We are all getting so excited for Christmas at our house! We have been singing and listening to Christmas music constantly, and working on Christmas gifts almost as much. :)
We went out to the woods to get our Christmas tree and had a fire and some hot peppermint tea. Our tree is standing very tall in our living room with many lovely (and some very...homemade) little ornaments, colorful lights and candy canes of course.
This week we will transform our house into a Christmas Cottage (I hope!) and continue to make and wrap Christmas gifts.
We're having so much fun. Even with working and chores and the other daily hazards of life, we always make it a point to really enjoy Christmas and everything it means and stands for. I hope you will too. :)
And just in case you need some ideas....

Ways to Enjoy Christmas:
1. Watch The Snowman on the first day it snows
2. Drink hot cocoa, hot tea or eggnog at least once a day
3. Wish EVERYONE you see a Merry Christmas
4. sing Christmas carols in your opera voice, Elvis voice or just any-way-you-want voice
5. hug your mom, sister, cousin or cat once or more a day
6. Watch a Charlie Brown Christmas
7. Make snow angels
8. Put extra Marshmallows on your hot chocolate
9. Sit in your living room with all the lights off except the Christmas tree lights and stare in utter silence for at least 5 minutes
10.  Catch snowflakes on your tongue
11. Make something very Christmas-y, like a fig pudding or peppermint bark or fudge. Mmm...
12. Remember and share your best Christmas memories

I hope everyone has the best Christmas this year!
I am so thankful for Christmas and for our Savior whose birth we are celebrating!

Love, Em

p.s. I have a very interesting piece of news for you in my next post! Keep your eyes open!
